IEC is the abbreviated form of Import Export Code. Every person who desires to undertake the import and export activity in India is required to obtain this license. However, it is not mandatory for the importers to do so. One important thing to be noted here is that if the importers do not obtain the IEC they won’t be able to claim the benefits also.
